Meet the Maker - MidiQueen Handbags

You know that friend, the one you don't see for a long time. Then when you're back together you both talk at the same time, you finish each others sentences, your kids are going through the same stuff, and it's like no time has passed? That's how I felt meeting Kristina Clark, the stylish owner/designer of MidiQueen handbags, for the first time. November subscribers received her Mini Queen (MSRP $23.00) and let me only say - they lost their marbles for this gorgeous little bag.

Prior to meeting face-to-face, Kristina and I had exchanged emails and pleasantries. I loved her style of vintage/retro/modern handbags from the giddy up. She loved the concept of California Found and our mission to expose our incredible California artisan community to new customers in California and across the country. And then meeting her - it all came together. This lady loves what she does, she adores her family, and her community is her thing. She names her bags after friends and family. She commissions local craftsmen and seamstresses to fabricate her designs. She's the real think-global-act-local deal.

Did I mention she lives and works in Ventura, CA? You know, the ... Thomas Fire ... mandatory evac ... 3rd largest fire in recorded California history (as of this writing ... it's not finished with us yet) ... Ventura, CA. Kristina lives there and her beautiful boutique is there. Help the Ventura community get through the crisis of the Thomas Fire and donate to the relief effort by texting UWVC to 41444, or REDCROSS to 90999. And then, when the smoke clears, if you're ever in the area, stop in to MidiQueen Handbags and say hi to Kristina. Tell her California Found sent you. In the meantime, use code CAFOUND at for 20% off your first purchase.
